What is included with the entrance fee?
The entrance fee covers parking for your vehicle and use of all of the groomed sledding runs for everyone in your vehicle.
Can I bring my own equipment?
Yes, you can bring your own sled or tube. For safety reasons, metal and/or wooden sleds and snow bikes are not allowed.
Do you rent equipment?
Yes, we rent tubes, plastic sleds, and helmets. We also sell sleds in our retail store.
When does your season start?
It varies from year to year based on snowfall. We are dependent on natural snow. We are typically open by the third week of December.
How do we get to the top of the sledding runs?
We have designated hike up lanes for you to walk up to the top of the sledding runs.
What should I wear for sledding?
We recommend snow bibs/pants, snow jacket, waterproof gloves, snow boots, and a helmet. We have these items for sale in the Adventure Mountain Sports Store.
Do you make snow?
Adventure Mountain is very limited on water and relies entirely on well water from a single well. The well does not provide enough output to make snow. Because Adventure Mountain is located at an elevation of 7,400 feet, there is not typically a need to make snow most winters. We appreciate you helping to conserve water while visiting.
Can I bring my dog?
Leashed dogs are welcome in the parking area only. Due to reasons of safety and hygiene, dogs are not allowed in the sledding or snow play areas. Only service animals are allowed inside of the lodge. Because we are at altitude with increased solar heating, the inside of cars can still heat up making it unsafe to leave pets inside of vehicles for extended periods.
Can I bring my own food into the lodge?
We have just recently put in a new outdoor patio with picnic tables for those bringing their own food to Adventure Mountain. We ask that you not bring outside food or drink inside of the lodge. Adventure Mountain Cafe is located inside of the lodge with limited seating, especially on busy days.
Can I bring a barbecue grill?
Due to the extreme drought conditions of the past four years, we strongly advise against bringing a grill to Adventure Mountain. Charcoal grills are strictly prohibited. Grills must be kept in the parking lot only. Grills are not allowed on the lodge patio.
Do you allow snowboarding/skiing?
We do not allow snowboarding or skiing at our sledding and snow play resort.
Does Adventure Mountain ever “sell out”?
Occasionally during busy holidays and weekends our parking reaches capacity, and we must close off our entrance when this occurs. We are aware that many of our guests travel several hours to enjoy Adventure Mountain, so we do our best to reopen throughout the day when this happens to allow more cars in as people leave. Keep in mind that after 2pm we can typically reopen our parking for the remainder of the day without restriction during these busy periods. Waiting along HWY 50 for us to reopen or stopping at our closed entrance along HWY 50 to ask questions is strictly prohibited. It creates a traffic hazard and jeopardizes your safety and the safety of our staff.
Do you offer overnight lodging at Adventure Mountain?
While we do not have onsite overnight lodging, South Lake Tahoe is just ten minutes away and offers a wide variety of lodging options.
